"Minerals" is an art project that explores the artist's lifelong love for gemstones and minerals. Inspired by collecting gemstones since childhood and recent travel to Australia, she aims to turn the beauty and value of these natural wonders into textile artworks.

Through careful research and experimenting, the artist studies the different qualities of minerals, with a focus on gemstones.

"Minerals" takes you on a journey into the artist's creative process. You'll see a collection of abstract textile works that capture the beauty of gemstones and minerals. Each piece reflects her deep love for Earth's treasures, with vibrant colours and intricate textures.

In the exhibit, the viewer is invited to get up close and feel what has been made, making the experience even more immersive. Come and explore the fascinating world of Minerals, and discover the hidden beauty of Earth's treasures.

Artist statement

My passion lies in textile design, and with my art, I create installations where the viewer can step into and surround themselves with my work.

My work comes from personal fascinations I have for what nature brings us. I conduct research into what it is that fascinates me about a certain subject and translate the results into textiles. By combining those elements with multiple textile processing techniques, the work I make becomes more abstract. Everything I make is done with second-hand fabrics.

My work is an enlargement of how I see things in nature. What I want to achieve is that the viewer can step out of the everyday and enter my world. In this way, I hope to be able to convey that wonder and beauty to others.

Ambitions

After my studies, I want to do an internship where I can learn even more about working with textiles, but also experience how it is to exhibit your work. Being part of exhibitions wherever possible and having people enjoy my art is what I would love to see in the future. But most importantly, I want to enjoy what I do.

Learned during the studies

Halfway through my studies, I discovered that solely working with textiles made me so much happier and more passionate than using textiles as a base for fashion design. This discovery led me to where I am now as a person and as an artist.
