Welcome to my Bachelor recital where I perform lesser known French violin works from famous composers - from Baroque to modern music.

Artist statement

My specialty as a classical violinist is a combination of historical performance practices and a constant focus on highly emotional playing. Music is best approached from the perspective of the moment and it should move the emotions of people around it and make them feel in a way no other form of expression can - that is my job.

Ambitions

I want to be a true musician of old. A skillful violinist in all styles I want to play, and a passionate all-round musician. Soloist, ensemble- and orchestra musician, teacher, researcher and improviser. Capable to accompany on a clavier, conduct an ensemble, play other instruments in the violin family and have a strong historical and theoretical knowledge on music so I can research and teach on that perspective as well. In short, a craftsman in the form of a violinist in Western classical music traditions.

Learned during the studies

To be as critical and curious as possible. To never take anything for granted and to always find ways to improve and adapt my playing and practicing. There's always another why, and more possibilities to try and discover.

Violin performance practice of the 19th century: Secrets of chinrestless playing

My research is about how to play the violin without the chin- and shoulder rests without compromising technique, ergonomics or musicality, and how it enhances these parameters. It's also done with the idea of historical performance practice of the time period from 1760 to 1920. Playing in this style was the most common way to play in this time. And playing the music of that time with this approach is in the core of the research.
