PlayGuru is a new guitar training app that will change the way you learn to play the guitar. What sets PlayGuru apart from other guitar training apps is its ability to listen to you playing your instrument and engage in a musical dialogue. This way the app can cater to users' individual needs and abilities, tailoring the learning material and making the learning process more pleasant, effective and efficient.

Artist statement

I'm an audio programmer who's fascinated by interactive systems. About one and a half years ago I started working on a project called PlayGuru, together with Marc Groenewegen.
With this project we aim to make an interactive musical exercise for guitarists, that adapts to the skill level of the player. We turned this into an app that we'd like to show you during this exposure!

Ambitions

In the next five years I hope to further develop this project into a successful tool that many people all over the world can use to improve their guitar playing skills. I'd also like to adapt it to other instruments, like piano or violin.

Learned during the studies

The most significant lesson I've gleaned from my studies at HKU is the critical importance of involving others in one's artistic pursuits to unlock their fullest potential.
