Artist statement
Of ik het leuk vind of niet; alles verandert en de wereld om ons heen is chaotisch, vreemd en onbegrijpelijk. Maar toch, hier zijn we! Allemaal al ademhalende, artiestenverklaringen lezenden en achter een typemachine typende.

Ambitions
De komende vijf jaar wil ik in een teamverband bij een (grafisch) ontwerpbureau werken. Dagelijks wil ik mij bezig houden met grafisch ontwerp. Wat ik voor mij zie is dat ik nog steeds werk met de huidige media waar ik momenteel mee werk, Adobe programma's zoals Indesign, Lightroom en Photoshop samen met analoge werkmethodes zoals analoge fotografie en natuurlijk de typemachine.
Tijdens mijn studietijd op de HKU heb ik veel publicaties gemaakt en graag zou ik dit willen blijven doen. Verder heb ik ontdekt dat ik projecten of kunstwerken met een maatschappelijk onderwerp het interessantst vind. De waarde van kunst zit bij de toeschouwer en ik geloof dat kunst als een spiegel kan dienen voor de kijker. De reflectie die kunst biedt hoeft voor mij niet op een grote maatschappelijke schaal te zijn, maar kan idealiter juist op een kleine individuele schaal veel impact hebben.
Learned during the studies
Het belangrijkste wat ik heb geleerd is om plezier te hebben tijdens mijn werkproces, ik wil kunst maken waar ik zelf enthousiast van word zodat ik anderen kan enthousiasmeren. Kunst moet vloeien uit levensenergie.
Ik heb geleerd hoe belangrijk het voor mij is om mijn werkproces af te wisselen, aan te passen, continu te problematiseren en te bevragen; hierbij is het vragen van feedback essentieel. De vraag: ‘Waarom doe ik dit (nog)?’ is een van de vragen die ik graag aan mezelf stel. Als dat antwoord geen logische uitleg heeft, dan is het tijd om het proces of het werk aan te passen. At the end of Lauryn Hill’s song ‘To Zion’ there is this audio recording of a teacher asking his students questions about love. The visual style of this publication is greatly based on this interaction between the teacher and his students.

Yearning for energy about the cycle of energy that varies between fatigue and vigour. The black pages show the negative part of the cycle of energy. where the white pages of the publication give a positive side. Because without negative there can not be positive.

Ode to cleaning
The reflecting ink on glossy white paper gives the atmosphere of the cleaning. It’s an everyday concern for many to keep our living environment clean. At our stations, our office buildings and in our hospitals. Where our cleaners are becoming more and more anonymous by large intermediary cleaning companies, this campaign's goal was to clean up their image and importance. For six weeks the poster was visible on bus stops spread around the city of Utrecht.

In many countries the basic human rights of the LGBTQ+ community are violated. Homosexuality, crossdressing or not acting straight is punishable and punishments vary from a felony, whipping or a life in prison. How can a powerful symbol such as a flag be manipulated in such a way that it acquires a new meaning? For instance, the national flag of a country x one on the many LGBTQ+ flags.
