Exposure HKU Theater strijkt neer op de Ravellaan 13 in Utrecht
Afstudeerders van HKU Theater creëren hier 1000 m2 speelse theatrale ontwerpen
HKU Theater strijkt van woensdag 26 juni tot en met zondag 30 juli tijdens Exposure neer in een voormalig schoolpand aan de Ravellaan in Utrecht. Afstudeerders van de opleidingen Interactive Performance Design, Theatre Design en Master Scenography presenteren hier de resultaten van hun ruimtelijk onderzoek. Verwacht theatrale installaties, ruimtelijke ontwerpen, kostuums, maquettes en interactieve ervaringen.
De school als transformatieve plek
In de klaslokalen, aula en op het schoolplein van een oude middelbareschool, hebben deze afstudeerders de ruimtes getransformeerd tot een speelplaats voor de zintuigen, waar bezoekers worden uitgenodigd om niet alleen te kijken, maar ook mee te doen, te experimenteren en te ontdekken. Hier is een plek ontstaan waar kunst en spel hand in hand gaan, en waar het vermogen van deze ontwerpers om te blijven spelen, maken en doen, centraal staat.
Locatie is onderdeel van het eindwerk zelf
Veel van de getoonde werken zijn locatiespecifiek en gaan een expliciete relatie aan met de wereld om hen heen. Afstudeerders startten medio mei fulltime met werken op locatie. Ze bliezen het stof van vensterbanken, snoeide de tuin, lichtten systeemplafonds en transformeerden muren tot expositiewanden. Het werk dat ze hier presenteren is eenmalig in deze vorm en op deze locatie te zien. De omgeving is niet alleen decor, maar onlosmakelijk onderdeel van het eindwerk zelf.

*Op 27, 28, 29 en 30 juni start er elk heel uur een rondleiding. De rondleidingen worden georganiseerd door de studenten zelf.

HKU Theatre establishes Exposure 2024 on Ravellaan 13 in Utrecht
Graduates of HKU Theatre create 1000 m2 playful theatrical designs here
HKU Theatre will establish the Exposure event in a former school building at Ravellaan, from Wednesday 26 June to Sunday 30 June. Graduates of the courses Interactive Performance Design, Theatre Design and the Master Scenography will be presenting the results of their theatrical research projects. Expect theatrical installations, interior designs, costumes, maquettes and interactive experiences.
The school as a place of transformation
The classrooms, auditorium, and the school yard of an old secondary school, have been transformed by the graduates into a playground for the senses. Visitors are invited to not just look around, but interact with the areas, to discover and experiment. A place has been created here where art and playfulness go hand in hand, centred around the ability of these designers to stay playful, creative, and active.
The location as integral part of the work
Many of the works on display are inherently tied to the location and form an explicit relation with their direct surroundings. The graduates started in mid-May, working fulltime on the location. They blew off the dust from the windowsills, trimmed the lawn, rigged the suspended ceiling plates and transformed the walls into expo decorum. The work they are presenting here, is exclusively presented only here and then, because this site not just serves as decorum, but is an inseparable component of the graduation works themselves.
