Artist statement
My name is Michiel Stender aka Toasted Sushi. I'm a freelance artist and animator creating visually intense animations, mixing 3D, 2D and analog media. I tend to work intuitively instead of getting stuck in the tedious concept phase. I love using bring colors, textures and intense compositions to convey emotion rather than tell a story.
Ambitions
I want to continue creating music videos, figures, merch or other animations, planting my unique vision in any project I work on. I'm also planning on making a web shop for my personal brand and creating an art collective with my friends where we'll have a place to make art together.
Learned during the studies
Over the past 4 years I've been able to find out more about my creative process, which led me to the conclusion that I prefer going straight into creating, this in turn has shaped my art style to what it is now.
